Every hospitalized child will have a large, private room to accommodate parents staying overnight. Even the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) will include 40 private rooms. Our team of more than 150 pediatric physicians in 40 pediatric specialties will work with nurses, therapists and allied health specialists who have devoted their careers to caring for children. As a teaching hospital, training the next generation of pediatric experts will be done in collaboration with the Michigan State College of Human Medicine. Spectrum Health's Helen DeVos Children's Hospital is the only hospital in western Michigan dedicated to providing comprehensive care to children. It serves as a referral center for newborns, infants, children and adolescents throughout the state. We provide medical care generally not available at community hospitals. It does not compete for patients. Helen DeVos Children's provides many unduplicated services. It is a special resource for local health care centers and hometown physicians. It receives no direct state aid and depends upon private support to expand health care programs and services. Helen DeVos Children's has 179 inpatient beds. The average length of stay for patients, excluding newborns, is 4.2 days. The average length of stay for neonatal patients is 11.4 days. Last year, we served children from 76 counties in Michigan and from 45 different states. Our Pediatric Unit consists of both general pediatrics as well as Pediatric Heme/Onc/BMT. It includes pediatric subspecialties of Neuro, Pulmonary, Nephrology, Cardiology as well as Pediatric Surgery and Trauma. Pediatric resident staff is available in house, 24 hours a day. The Pediatric Heme/Onc/BMT unit is a 15-bed unit with 7 positive pressure beds with hard-line monitoring to accommodate BMT (Bone Marrow Transplant.) We are the regional referral center and have 6 Pediatric Oncologists and 2 BMT physicians on staff. The nursing staff in Pediatrics work closely and collaboratively with physicians, social workers, child life and discharge coordinators to provide care. Located in Grand Rapids, a community that takes pride in its 'small town' convenience and amenities, Helen DeVos Children's offers big-city expertise. Helen DeVos Children's cares for more than 600 children per month with cancer. and, has the only pediatric bone marrow transplant program on the western side of the state. Helen DeVos Children's has over 40 special care outpatient clinics that provide continuing care to children who have chronic health problems and difficult to treat illnesses. Outreach clinics also occur in Cadillac, Carson City, Holland, Muskegon and Traverse City. Families with loved ones at Helen DeVos Children's can stay at the Renucci Hospitality House that provides overnight accommodations for families traveling to Grand Rapids. Helen DeVos Children's is the only Children's Miracle Network (CMN) hospital on the western side of the state. Pediatric Grand Rounds are done a monthly basis providing education and opportunities to discuss a variety of diagnosis' as well as treatment options with the finest pediatric health care professionals. Pediatrics is supported by two staff educators and a clinical nurse specialist to provide on-going learning for our pediatric staff and new employees. | Details: Position is in support of the operations for Lockheed Martin's enterprise wide Health and Wellness medical centers network. The Wellness Center Senior Nurse Practitioner provides general medical care and treatment under the direction of a physician. Position requires demonstrated sound independent judgment related to employee’s health care and safety. Position requires knowledge of all relevant laws and regulations governing mid-level providers, and maintenance of patient privacy and confidential patient information. Additionally, position requires that selected candidate be able to be credentialed as a health care provider, meet the physical requirements for the position and be able to wear/use a respirator (N-95 filtering face piece or higher). Position will be primarily responsible for the following:Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidance and instructions of a Physician. Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs. Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatments such as physical therapy.Records physical findings and formulates plan and prognosis.Evaluates health education/promotion needs of patients and provides necessary instruction.Refers patients to a Physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment. Familiar with the use of computers and programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Minimal business travel (less than 10%) may be required. Local travel may be more.Ability to assist physicians through competent performance. Other duties as assigned.There is assistance available for relocation. | ||||

Ensures plan of care is being followed and executed by professional personnel as written. Provides for growth opportunities to all staff interested and/ or show potential. Promotes/ assists staff in self-improvement. Provides leadership and management direction to professional staff. Maintains qualified professional staff to guarantee quality of care. Orientation of all new employees followed by evaluation of skills. Continually monitors employee performance and competency and ensures that employees are receiving meaningful and regular feedback on their performance. | ||||

Applies current research findings in practice; participates in data collection; introduces current research into clinical practice within surgical specialty.
